Updated 09/13/2010
Well we had one of the better showing for the last points tournament, but the east wind also showed up and made fishing quite the battle for most of the anglers, seems most sought out shelter from the wind and looked for the Large mouth, and a few were lucky enough to pick up a fish. While we did not see a five fish limit everyone gave it their best and made it back safe. Congratulations to Jacob for placing first and to Jeff for big fish.
The Angler of the Year totals are now posted and this years AOY is Club President Jeff Wycinski! Congratulations Jeff and great job this year keeping on the fish. The runner up was Jacob Wycinski with his best year yet. Now if we can just get Steve to admit that he lost the AYO belt buckle and pony up with a new trophy to be held and passed on the the new AOY winner... Its been 367days, 10 hours, 14 minutes and 38 seconds since I won AOY last year and I have yet to even catch a glimpse of this mythical belt buckle that had been successfully honored by previous AYO winners.
MBI - Update the top eight anglers have qualified for the MBI tournament on Sunday 9/19. The pairings have been completed and are as follows:
Greg - Jacob
Jeff - Rick
Jim - Brian
Henry - Donn
The top eight also qualified for the classic tournament this year, Jeff will be scheduling a meeting pick the lakes and go over the times etc.
Updated 08/18/2010
Here are the minutes from the last meeting.
Attendance was Jim,Steve Mike,Henry,Matt,Donn,Dean,and Jeff.
First we need to use the website to let everyone know if they will not make that tournament or make sure to Greg, Jeff or Jim so we can plan accordingly. Next year we might try to use a calender to mark down tournaments that we know that we will not make. We voted to drop the catch and measure tournaments. We will have a team tournament in May for fun (not a points tourn.) and all weigh in tournaments will start at the end of May. We will have to have 2 tournaments in 1 or 2 months so we can still have 6 tournaments plus the classic and MBI. We also voted not to have throw out tournaments. All 6 tournaments will be kept of the angler of the year race. We discussed picking of tournament lakes suggestions were for it to be done by majority at that meeting each submitting 6 lakes that will hold us and tournament director select from those lakes with no fishing the same lake 2 times. We also need to have a separate meeting between Big Seven and our last tournament on St. Clair for the MBI.
Treasury report. We had $54.48 from last year. Paid 3-10-10 were Mike Donn Jim Henry Jeff Jacob Steve at the 4-14 meeting Lowell, Rick, Matt, Jay, Kyle, total so far is $774.48. We used Greg and Ritchies dues for the MBI ($120.00 ) Jeff threw in the other 5.00 dollars. Jerry and Bob paid at the St. Clair tourn. total now is $774.48 + $120.00 = $894.48. Ugly Duck Pot $28.00 Pot o Gold $157.00= $185.00 total now is $1.079.48. Cost for St. Clair and Fenton trophy $143.10. Total now $936.38. This amount doesn't count the trophies for Orchard and Maceday.

Updated 07/28/2010
Gang there has been a last minute change to the Lake for the August 7 tournament, we will not be fishing Sylvan Lake the launch is unfit for safe loading and unloading for a club event. The new lake will be Maceday lake in Oakland County. We are keeping the same blast off and tournament date. Please call if you have questions. Sorry for the change but we don't want anyone to damage there boat or worse get hurt trying to have fun fishing.
Updated 7/17/2010
Well the weather held out and the fishing was moderate. As usual the fish were caught all over the lake and at all depths. We had a couple of big bass weighed in but only one angler was able to bring in a limit, Jacob, great job to a great angler. He continues to show the old farts how it's done. The standards have all been updated so you can see just where you placed both by the lake and in the angler of the year standings. Look's like Greg is going to be hard to beat this year unless he slips up or misses a tournament. Keep you lines in the water - Rick

Club meeting tomorrow night!!! Got some good news and some bad news, it looks like Jay and Ritchie will not be fishing Orchard lake, Jay will be fishing the BFL and Ritchie went and broke his finger and now has several pin's holding it in place while it heels. Good luck Jay and thoughts and prayers to Ritchie for a speedy recovery. For those who may not have gotten the email, Kyle has begrudgingly decided to part ways with his beloved Ranger, so if your are interested please get with him to discuss the details.
Updated 7/4/2010
The website has been updated, sorry for the delay I have been a fishing machine for the month of June I fished 12 of the 30 days June had to offer and I must say them were some darn good days for fishing. It did come at a loss, I missed the Club meeting where rumor has it we picked up another member. I need to get his contact information from the Club President so I can update the member roster. I also missed the team tournament, it fell on a conflicting tournament date.
Congratulation go out to the team of Lowell and Mike for their win on Lake Nepessing. I have updated the standing to reflect the results of those who participated. Our next meeting is Wednesday July 14, 2010. Hope to see everyone there.

Updated 6/6/2010
Well the First Weigh-in has come and gone and it was a huge success. We took care of the Pot-O-Gold and Big Bag/Big Bass pot's, had a good pre-launch meeting to start the morning off. Weather was hot! pressure was dropping and the fish were elusive. Only two five fish limits for the entire day... I thought the weigh-in was well done, and the bump board cam in handy as a couple of anglers were hoping that the shrinkage that fish see under stress would not impact their creel. Congratulations to Henry for Big Bass 3.65 lbs is a nice fish.
Pot-O-Gold collections are $155 dollars that works out to a chance at an extra $31 for each weigh-in event. Since no 5 lbs fish was weighed at the first event the next pot is now worth $62.
The next club meeting is on 5/9 but it is in conflict with several of the members vacation plans for the Hawg & Gator so attendance may be a bit sparse. If you have not yet tried out the blog section give it a try, I see Greg and Steve have now posted some thing on there, its a good tool to allow us to chat between meeting and events.
I think you all heard that Bob had to miss his first tournament due to medical reasons. Reports are that he is feeling better keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He has a few weeks for recuperation before our next tournament.

Update 5/16/2010
Well fellow members, I don't know about the rest of you but I can tell I forgot the suntan lotion... my face is still on fire. Despite the week of rain leading up to our first event of the year on St.Clair everyone caught fish. The water was like a giant mud bowl around the mile roads but persistence paid off and we all caught fish, some rather nice fish at that. I have all the totals posted in the standing table for those who are wondering how they did. If you look up above you will see two new links, 2010 pictures, click this to see the pictures I took and any anyone happens to send my way and Past updates, which holds all the information previously posted on this page. As I update this page I will move the older post to the past update page for a historical reference for those who want to look back.
Sorry I was not able to make the meeting and thanks to Jeff for taking notes:
Meeting 5/12/2010
- Talked about money pots $2.00 ugly duckling, $5.00 Pot of gold, Need to be paid before 1st weigh-in tournament.
- 5 lb award
- Bump Board measure your own fish!
- Greg says its going to take 5 to win good luck!
The first catch and measure was a lot of fun, Jacob boated a 5 plus pound Smallmouth that measured in at 22 inches, GREAT JOB JACOB. Hope this is just a glimpse of things to come from you this year. He was followed closely by his father, Jeff who landed a 20 inch smallmouth. Despite these kicker fish the Wycinski boat was not able to hold off Birthday Boy Greg Daniel, who despite not being able to land a monster bass was able to keep the five fish creel loaded with 17 plus inch fish that at the end of the day totaled 91.5 inches placing him ahead of his closest challenger by 2.5 inches. This was a close tournament, the top eight all had at least 80 inches. Hope this is a sign of things to come for this year, really good turnout and really close results make for some nail biting excitement. Everyone one did a great job launching and getting things moving quickly and making it a safe and fun tournament.
Our next lake is Fenton and we will not have a meeting prior to the next tournament. If you have not been to the lake our need directions let me know. It is a state launch with plenty of parking. The lake has strictly enforced rules for navigation due to the heavy traffic it sees so you need to review them and obey them, anyone who is charged with a violation on the water would be disqualified from our tournament for failing to obey the rules. Your partner is already posted, if you don;t know who it is look, if you still can't figure it out give Greg, Jeff or Rick a call. You should call your partner and make sure you know where your meeting etc. If you are not going to make the tournament it is your responsibility to contact your partner and the tournament director to let them know you will not be there. If you are a boater and your boat is not working get with the tournament director so he can pair you with another boater.
Hope to see you all in three weeks, if not sooner on lake Fenton, the closest lake to Wixom Greg could get us all to travel too...

Welcome the the members only page.
Update 04/25/2010
The Weather was fair to us anglers who happened to make it out for our first ever fun fish event. In all it was a great time and every team caught a bass. The results are posted in the standing page, just click the link above. Talking to anglers it seems there were several techniques that were successful, jig & pig, senko, dropshot, chatter bait, spinner bait all produced fish. The winds were a little strong at times and we did have about an hour there where it sprinkled on us but not bad for an early spring outing. Remember our next event is the first of six points events, it too is a catch and release event and we hope to see everyone have five to measure. Thanks to all of you who made this a great event. If you have any pictures get them to me and I will put them up on the web.

Updated 04/18/2010
Well it's time to make some club history... We are holding our very first fun fishing, Shiver fest on Stony "Cold" Creek impoundment. That's right mother nature has decided to provide us die hard fishermen with an added challenge, cold weather. Not that I trust the weather man but as of now they are predicting that it should be around 40 degrees Fahrenheit when we blast off at 7:30 am. Highs are expected to peek at 62 sometime long after we have left the water. To spice things up just a little more they have added the normal 40% chance of rain.
Treasury Report - Hummmm guess I missed that announcement. We do have money somewhere and it should be increasing as dues continue to poor into the treasurer AKA Steve "you didn't win" Zynda. I will just give an estimate for now, we can audit the book's prior to beers at the next meeting. I estimate we spent $125 dollars for MBI entry last month, and have now $960 in dues collected, so the balance should be around $835 for 2010 added to $53 carry over from 2009 leaves us with a grand total estimate of $888 dollars.
Message from the Tournament Director - I will make every effort to attend the next club meeting to go over the rules prior our first official event of the year. As many of you know Lake St.Clair nearly took two of our members from us last year and we do not want a repeat of that ever, safety must be in the forefront of everyone's minds. Check your boats for leaks, and safety gear, including something to bail with. The water is much colder now and hypothermia can set in less than an hour.
Sorry for not getting the message out about a proposed later start for the fun fish, Due to the cooler temperatures the fishing action is still very slow in the early hours and I was hoping to give the water a little time to warm prior to blast off. See ya at 7 am next Saturday at Stony "cold" Creek... P.S. if you have a digital camera bring it so we can get pictures for the web.
New Member - We were introduced to our latest member at Wednesdays meeting, I forgot to write down his name, I seem to recall Brian but then it gets fuzz from there, well I guess it's a sign that I am getting older. So I apologize to our newest member for not remembering but promise to chase down the Club President for that information and update the membership roster prior to the next meeting. We also promise not to make you fish with Jeff or Greg first... we will put you with someone who doesn't mind sharing the fish.
Club news- Jim was busy with the peddling of those pesky soft plastic baits he has been busy formulating. Seems he has found a new calling as a senko master. He is looking for a catchy business name to compete with Gary Yamamoto, I suggest "limp noodle", Mr. Wiggly" or perhaps "Jims Yeahmangoto's". So if you haven't gotten a few to try out give Jim a call or send him an email, the prices are great for untested product. Once he determines they work his prices will also jump to $7.99 for 10. He is also looking for investors, minimum investment for 10% share in the business $1,000,000.00, no guarantees of course.
For the first time this year Bob "the Rocker" Sergel made an appearance. He announced that he would be changing up his tactics this year and that spinner baits are out, and soft plastics are in. He had several bags of prototypes setting on the table at the meeting, seems he is Jims official prototype tester. He showed us just one of the newest lures, it has yet to be named and was only refereed to as 007-ROCKED-ME. It was specially designed to be used with a 6'6" medium weight extra fast action boomba rod, you know the one with 24 eyelets. The recommended reel is a shimmano X-tra shitten fast 8.33:1 spin cast, model XSF833. To bring all this together as a complete package is the all new ultra invisible pluro-carbon-braided-mono. This outfit is guaranteed to get the big ones jumping in the boat. Bob also informed us that a former club member "Jack-knife" David Dehondt has moved back to Michigan recently and may look to join us as a guest on Lake Fenton and possibly another lake or two. He is currently looking for a home, expecting his second child and working at a music store in Flint.
Well, we had a good meeting and the water temps are rising, so make some time to get out and enjoy this great states fisheries. Remember you now need your 2010 licenses and new boater access stickers for the launches. You can get them both on-line now at the MI.gov web sites. They mail them for free too.

Updated 03-21-10
Jeff and Rick attended the MBI annual meeting today. The club paid the $125 entry fee so we are now good to go for this years event on lake St. Clair. The final updates and bi-laws are now contained in the MBI Topic area for everyone to review. Jeff and I again had the chance to admire the trophy, this event has been going on since 1979 and is the longest running competitive bass tournament in the State.
Highlights from the meeting -
- We will be fishing all legally open water between the two Bridges (Ambassador and Blue water)
- The 6 day off limit still applies, beginning 9/13, this applies to all club members.
- Launch will be at Harley Ensign
- Blast-off will be at 0700 just outside the river mouth, check-in is no later than 1600 at mouth of river
- Weigh-in will begin at 1615
- Coffee & Juice and doughnuts served for breakfast, Soda's and Subs at weigh-in.
- As of today we have 5 confirmed and 2 verbal teams maximum allowed is 8
This is the last email from the MBI Chairperson,
Gentlemen,
First of all let me say thanks to all who showed up and paid their dues today, it really makes my job easier when there is so much cooperation. As to the meeting, I have attached the following documents for your records: The MBI Minutes, The MBI By-Laws, The Tournament Rules, The Tournament Day Itinerary, Tournament Information Sheet and Meeting Sign-in Sheet.
There were three primary issues that were brought up today
(01). Number of Off-Limit days prior to the Tournament: The Hosting Club wanted to reduce the number of off-limit days from 6 to 2 which would allow the clubs to fish any open tournaments that were being held during that week prior to the MBI. This was voted down so the Off-Limits will remain the same. Please see your Tournament Rules for a clear description of Off-Limits.
(02). Change the ending time of the tournament from a 3:00 p.m. ending time to read 4:00 p.m.. This was passed. So the Tournament Hours for this Tournament will be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
(03). Discussion was around how to get more clubs to fish the MBI. At this time we have 5 committed clubs that have paid. One club the Eastside Bass Club says they would love to fish but are having an issue with the Off-Limits being imposed. The representative will go back to his club and discuss this further. The Detroit Bass Club did not show up. I will continue to pursue this club. It was also stated that we should post on the Lake St. Clair Web Site as well as Dan Kimmel’s web site. Bass Pro Shop has allowed us to post on their bulletin board. If there are any questions and or concerns regarding this communication please get back with me as soon as possible and I will correct any error’s I have made. Once again on behalf of myself and Mr. Ribick I want to thank you all for your time and cooperation in this matter and see you in September.

UPDATED 03-14-2010
Well the meeting went well and we were able to get the Partner Pairings all set for the season. I have updated the schedule page to reflect the lakes we will be fishing this year and check the launch links, you can view the lake data and maps provided by the MI DNRE.
The new meeting location and day was a big hit. We enjoyed $6 pizza and Pitcher specials. The decision to keep the new location, and the new monthly date was voted on and agreed to. So our next meeting will be Wednesday April 14, 2010 at 7 p.m., the location is Zamboozies Sports Bar & Grill, 42066 Van Dyke Avenue Sterling Heights, MI 48314. The atmosphere was great we had plenty of room for all of us and service was great! I loved the Pizza, I think I ate a whole one myself.
Jim brought in gift bags of his hand poured lures, custom senkos. He added several new styles at the meeting and they looked great. I know several of the guys placed some orders at the meeting if you missed your chance and want to place an order give him a call, the price is great and you can get them in any color, with any sent, or any flake you would like.
I updated meeting attendance to the bottom of this page so for those who cannot make it can see who did show up.
The first tournament of the season is coming up fast... As discussed at the meeting this is a fun fish event. It will be in a team format, each team will turn in their top five measurements at the end of the event. This event is open to members and non-members alike. If you want to fish it is up to you to give someone a call, once you know who you are fishing with let Greg or Rick Know. There is a pairing list for this below so everyone know who will be fishing and what the teams are as of that day. We are planning on a voluntary $10 a boat donation. This will be paid back 100% to at least the top two finishes.
HAWG & GATOR 2010 dates have now been announced... Click here for more details.
Our historical standings have been updated, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 now have all tournament data. Just click standings then click the year you wish to view. I hope to have all data updated prior to the April this year, I am just missing data from 2009 that I need to finalize the tables.
